My good friend Jim from Chicago, a longtime contributor to this blog, emailed me additional photos he took of a match between Johnny Curtis (aka WWE's Fandango) and Mason Ryan (formerly known as Barri Griffths) that took place on Oct. 14, 2010. This was during the time NXT, WWE's developmental territory, was still known as Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). Jim refers to these photos as the "B-side" of the first set of photos; you can see the first set here. Thanks, Jim! (Up next from Jim, pics of Davey Richards's last match in Chicago before joining TNA. Watch out for it!)
Two stunningly good-looking men. Why did they have to change their look?
ReplyDeleteJohnny Curtis (in trunks) and Mason Ryan (pre-long hair) ...wrestling doesn't get hotter than this!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Mason Ryan, esp.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they think that a teenage girl's hairstyle from the 1970s makes them look good?
While we're on the subject, what's with the stringy greasy/wet looking hair? Are they supposed to look like rockstars?
I prefer both of their current looks. They each have their own distinct appearance, away from the homogeneous Stepford Wrestlers that everyone else seems to prefer!
ReplyDelete"Why do they think that a teenage girl's hairstyle from the 1970s makes them look good?"
ReplyDeleteBecause they do.

I thought Mason Ryan looks more like a barbarian. :)
I suspect part of it is WWE or other powers that be that make these style decisions. As I have always said, I think the long-hair look is awful, it IS cookie cutter, in this case more Spinal Tap than Stepford. I realize there are people such as Sean that like it; that's fine (fond of mullets?). I just hate it when one of mine defects to the other side.
ReplyDeleteI AM a fan of the clean cut look, as well. AND I like mullets sometimes. ;)
Delete:-)
DeleteI think some wrestlers can carry off long hair, like John Morrison. A major part of it is that he looks CLEAN. He could do shampoo commercials.
I love Mason Ryan's upturned nose.
I also love Mason's nose! I bet he grew the hair and the beard because of A-hole fans chanting "Batista," to differentiate himself. I really loved his between-stage hair, when it was long enough to be floppy but before it was really long.
DeleteAnd Jomo in shampoo commercials = YES.
