Remember British wrestler Steve Lewington? He was in the roster of WWE's developmental territories Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) back in 2006-2008. After that, Lewington had a one-year stint with ECW under the name DJ Gabriel. It was as DJ Gabriel that Lewington caught the attention of beefcake aficionados. He continued to wrestle in the USA before being released from his contract in January 2010. His Wikipedia page says that the 32 year old native of Berkshire is currently wrestling as "The Swole-verine" Bronson, although I have been unable to find any recent photos or videos of him as such. Here are some images of Lewington doing a bit of fitness modelling. He still looks great and I'm certain I'm not the only one who wishes he'd return to the squared circle.
Here are some older images of Lewington.
Wow, thanks for the in depth profile. I think I always glossed over him in previous posts, but this one really got my attention!
ReplyDeleteI hope the news of Steve's return to wrestling is true, and I pray that his matches make it into wide distribution. I think he got such a raw deal in his career. My theory is that his look fell into an uncomfortable valley for wrestling promoters. His gym-built body never conveyed brute strength like other big wrestlers nor did his aesthetic appeal to female fans like Rick Rude or Val Venis. Therefore he got saddled with a terrible gimmick. But to me he represented the ideal body that I wanted to see rewarded for his hard work while at the same time be punished for his perfection.
ReplyDeleteI SO want to see him in the ring again. That damn chest...
