#4 Gromov is awarded the Mr. Congeniality prize for that impish grin and those magnificent muscles--they evoke for me power and beauty of a mountain range. What could be a grand prize photo gets sadly compromised, however, by the photographer, who could have achieved a much pleasing and more come-hither result using a 200mm or even 300mm lens and standing at some distance away. Thus vanish depth of field and perspective distortion in one fell swoop. TT
Jessie Godderz has a flawless body and a Hollywood face. By any measure, he rises to the top of any list.
Why then, does he leave me flat and un-moved? I just don't find him attractive. I wish I knew why or how. I am truly puzzled. Perhaps ... he is too perfect? ... too sculpted, not real?
I concur that there is just something--who can say what?--about present day Godderz which is off-putting. The web yields many early pix of him which are, IMHO, far more attractive. I would welcome a retrospective gallery. He just seems harder than he was--as in marble.
That reminds me of a sign I saw once, propped in the window of a diner: MARBLE CAKE $1.59. DON'T TAKE IT FOR GRANITE!
I also long to see more of Godderz, even today's man, squashed in the ring. (Who else wants to see Chris Masters wipe him out? Over a tantalizing period of time, 15 mins at least?)It would also be OK with me if he wore a greater variety of trunks, as long as each one was skimpier than the one before. TT
A retrospective on Godderz would definitely be cool. Though to be honest, I don't think he's really changed much, but maybe such a post would reveal something different.
8 is Luther Ward!
ReplyDeleteIn his masked persona, American Wrestling Warrior. Anon.

Any one else share this feeling?
I was thinking the same thing. He should, but he doesn't. It also doesn't help (me, at least) that his public personality is that of a jerk. Anon.
DeleteI can relate. My conclusion is exactly that he's too perfect. I can't help but think a guy like him would be horrible to me in real life.
DeleteBut also, when he gets worked over — a big turn on for me — it feels overdramatic and thus a bit fake. He does have some moments though like here:

Yes! And the thing is, he really is a suprisingly good wrestler. Anon.
DeleteAgreed. I've never been a fan.
DeleteKaasa's beard really suits him, I think.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see more of Jake Something sometime...rrrrower.
Jake Something is in the works.
