On this edition of Muscle Monday, I thought it would be appropriate to pay tribute to our American friends' 4th-of-July celebration with a throwback feature on Lex Luger during his "Made In The USA/The All-American" persona circa 1993-1995. After Hulk Hogan left the WWE (as it was still called back then) in 1993, the company decided to turn Luger from a heel to a patriotic fan favorite. Luger continued to play out this character till his departure from WWE in 1995. You can read more about Luger here.

Lex was a beautiful, sexy man who I enjoyed watching very much.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed to find out on Cagematch that in the 18 years of his career he fought 1514 matches! And he won nearly 7/10. There were 13 wrestlers he faced 49+ times.
ReplyDeleteI picked 49 as the cut of because he had a 100% win streak against one of the two guys he met that many times, Ludvig Borga. In looking at his chief opponents, I think the guy I wand to see him wrestle on YouTube the most (and I'll look!) is Crush/Bryan Adams,, who out massed him and was taller than him. Lex won 61/68 against him.
Those stats are impressive!
The All-American Lex Luger was definitely one of the first men that I stared at without knowing why as I wondered why my pee-pee was getting hard. I never knew him in any other incarnation and was like a moth to a light, always watching and not knowing why I was always praying to have this hot muscled man get the life squashed out of him.
ReplyDeleteThe pecs and manly sculpted abs were what drew my eyes, even now as I type with a hardon. He also had that all-American hero face from the Bionic Six and Thunder Cats cartoons I watched. I'm amazed that prominent flag package is not in my memory, but I'm sure it was because I was trained to look away from it.
I'd relive my fantasies in the video arcade when the game featuring him and about eight others came out. I'd mostly watch, but when I played, there was satisfaction even when I lost as my chosen hero.
Wow, and here I thought I was the only young'un who was infatuated with the star-spangled stud (and seeing him challenged/manhandled). And ditto the cartoon connection (he reminded of Captain Planet...without the crystal blue skin and green hair of course).
DeleteFor some reason, though, he'd lost something by the time he returned to the WCW and was doing battle with the nWo. I still looked forward to seeing him but just not as much as before.
That's a cool connection with Captain Planet I never saw. I saw some Tumblr posts awhile ago showing how Captain Planet is one of the most pathetic superheroes every created. It was pretty hot!
DeleteYeah I could never really get into any future incarnation of Lex. Maybe it was my imagination, but I felt he lost some of his rippedness after the All-American persona. He doesn't look half-bad in his NWA days (thanks for the tip below to my German friend!) but that All-American getup added sex appeal x10 it felt like that forced me to notice him (like a hand grabbed my head and forced me into his "total package" haha).
So many shows and cartoons formed my ideals of a man and I had no idea it was happening to me. American Gladiators was another influential show. I'm surprised He-Man or GI Joe didn't influence me more though I'd be curious to revisit. Oh and Adam West's Batman from the 60s, as well as the animated series and the X-Men animated series. I also remember a Captain America movie I snuck up late for, but was disappointed the costume wasn't more spandexy like in the comics. I could go on ...
Lex Luger war viel verlockender als ein junger Mann. Wenn Sie Fotos von ihm von seiner NWA Tage finden könnte, wäre es fantastisch. Auch gibt es andere bessere Bilder von ihm. Können Sie denen zeigen?
ReplyDeleteLex Luger was never better than when he first started on NWA in 1987. He was the ultimate muscle bully treating his smaller weaker opponents with the disdain they deserved. His cockiness and arrogance made him exponentially hotter.
