One of the interesting things about pro wrestling in the 21st Century is that wrestlers now come in all shapes and sizes. Back in the 1950s-1960s, wrestlers were typically thick, beefy brawlers. Then in the 1980s-1990s, there was a shift to more muscular physiques. Nowadays, we see a wide range of body types from bodybuilders to lean-athletic and everything in between. Cruiserweights have gotten extremely popular, too, with WWE even creating a special category for them. Here are two American independent cruiserweights who add variety to the menu of wrestling beefcake. First up is Sage Philips, a 23 year old from Bloomington, Indiana who stands 5'8" and weighs 178 lbs. Watch Sage take on Cole Radrick in this match from last April.
Our second cruiserweight is another newcomer here on Beefcakes of Wrestling. Gregory Iron is 31 years old and hails from Cleveland Ohio. He stands 5'5" and weighs 154 lbs. Iron made his pro debut back in 2006 and has since competed for promotions like Pro Wrestling Ohio, Chikara, and Absolute Intense Wrestling. What's different about Iron is that he is a disabled wrestler. Born prematurely and weighing only one pound, Iron was diagnosed with cerebral palsy which has left his right arm withered and with extremely limited range of motion. But that didn't stop him from becoming a pro wrestler at the age of 19. He's held several singles and tag team titles and continues to be a source of inspiration to anyone who wants to become a pro wrestler. Watch this Emmy-award winning news piece on him here.
