Longtime contributor and good friend of this blog David emailed me some pics of one of NXT's newest faces, Mohammed Fahir. 28-year-old Fahim, a kickboxer and MMA fighter, has the distinction of being the first Egyptian to be signed by WWE in the Middle East. Early this year, he and two other athletes were selected from among 40 competitors in the WWE try-outs in Dubai. Here are some pics of Fahim I found on the internet.
And here are Fahim's debut match pics which David took at a recent NXT event. David says it was a short match because of outside interference by Lars Sullivan (in red). Thanks for bringing our attention to Fahim, David!
Here's one of the other two wrestlers from the Middle East who was also signed up. His name is Nasser Alruyaweh and he's the first Kuwaiti man to get a developmental contract with WWE. Alruyaweh is a crossfit competitor with a background in boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. (The third wrestler from the Middle East who was signed up is Shadia Bseiso, the first Arab female to join WWE.)
It is such a shame the WWE doesn't use these off-TV house shows to develop fan bases for their NXT athletes. Unless they are recording and selling them, getting these matches onto Youtube would really provide them a lot of feedback as to which wrestlers are really popular and, therefore, commercially viable. Anon.
