I came across this match between Tony Atlas and the fearsome Maniac Mark Lewin on YouTube last week. It's from 1980 which would mean Lewin, born in 1937, was 43 years old at the time, while bodybuilder Atlas was only 26. This was the period when Lewin looked amazing (especially for a man his age), but his style of wrestling was mostly limited to karate chops and underhanded moves. Watch the match here.
I saw Lewin and a female companion walking the streets of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, one summer. Lewin was shirtless and sweating a bit in the summer sun. He was also a bit shorter than I imagined, although his powerful physique took care of any worries about his height. I said hello, in that awkward fan way, and he was very cordial. But just to be close enough to that powerful sweating body to shake his hand was aware and unforgettable treat. His wrestling was from the old school, but his body was for the ages.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!- Thanks for sharing that memory- hope you don't mind if I borrow it for a hot fantasy or two?...lol
DeleteThat should read "a rare and unforgettable treat."
ReplyDeleteThank You Thank You Thank You!!!! Mark Lewin is on my top five hottest men EVER!- of course all the media of him is old and grainy, etc- great to see these photos!!
ReplyDeleteAlways found Mark Lewin pushed all my buttons...
ReplyDeleteThese photos are great and the older versus younger wrestler is always a hot angle.
Loved the younger version of Lewis too... before he started shaving his hot chest.
