SmackDown Beefcakes

Today's featured beefcakes are from the WWE SmackDown franchise. Buddy Murphy is 31 years old, 5'11", 227 lbs (180cm/103kg) and hails from Australia. He's been with WWE since 2013, the year he made his in-ring debut on NXT, and was drafted to SmackDown six months ago. Cien Almas is 29 years old, 5'9", 210 lbs (175cm/95kg) and was born in Mexico. He was signed to WWE's NXT in 2015 and was drafted to the SmackDown franchise in April of 2018. I predict we'll see them on WWE for many years to come.

Out Of The Shadows

Fans of Mexico's lucha libre scene may be familiar with a wrestler named La Sombra (in English, The Shadow; he appeared in a couple of Body Shots features on this blog in the past). Not only was La Sombra big in Mexico, but he also wrestled for the esteemed promotion New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2010 to 2105. On November 2015, the 5'11", 180 lb. native of Durango signed to WWE's developmental territory NXT where he wrestled as Manny Andrade. A month later, he was given the new ring name Andrade "Cien" Almas (In English, cien is hundred, almas is souls). He defeated Ty Dillinger in his official debut match on June 8, 2016. Now 27 years old, it's astonishing to think Almas made his pro debut in Mexico 14 years ago when he was just about to turn 14! Learn more about his amazing career by going to his Wikipedia page.

I've never seen a wrestler do this before!

Smooth vs Furry

Some leave it on. Some shave (or wax) it off. I'm referring to body hair on a beefcake wrestler. Longtime contributor and good friend of this blog, David, emailed me a set of photos he took at a NXT event he attended featuring two sets of "smooth vs furry" matches. Our first match features Drew McIntyre (and his light fur) facing off against Andrade "Cien" Almas with the smooth torso. Click here to watch one of their older matches.

Our second smooth vs furry match is between Roderick Strong and Steve Cutler. This was actually a tag team match, but Strong and Cutler faced off for most of the match. Granted, Cutler is only semi-furry, but he's let his chest hair (not to mention his beard) grow out and he looks different  compared to what he looked like earlier this year (for reference, check out his January match against Strong here). So do you take sides in a "smooth vs furry" match? Tell us with whom. Thanks to David for these awesome shots!
