Bearhug Me Tight

One of the more iconic holds in wrestling is the bearhug. If you haven't heard about it yet, there's a whole online community dedicated to the bearhug in professional wrestling. It's called Bearhugger.net and not only are there galleries, stories, links, uploads, and matches, there's also a huge Wrestling Personals database where you can meet other bearhug and wrestling aficionados from all over the world. Eleven!

Today is the 11th anniversary of Beefcakes of Wrestling. That's right...we are now 11 (the very first post featured on this blog was made on February 14th, 2010). The very first wrestler featured (with just one image) was former independent wrestler Anthony Bravado. Bravado was the kind of beefcake wrestler I wanted this photo blog to be all about but I'd like to think the blog has evolved over the years. One of the things I know I've started to do more of is to feature wrestlers from not just the USA, England, Canada, and Australia, but also Japan, Mexico, Sweden, Hungary, Brazil, Singapore, China, Croatia, South Africa, Chile, and others. Anyway, to commemorate our 11th anniversary, here's a look back at our first beefcake. Bravado retired from professional wrestling in 2009 to focus on a career in competitive bodybuilding. Watch him wrestle another thicc bodybuilder, Tank Toland, in this match.

We're 9 Years Old Today!

Can you believe it? Beefcakes of Wrestling turns nine years old today. How time flies! To celebrate, here's a look back at some of the beefcakes featured on the month this blog came into being. You may not know this, but I've always envisioned BCoW to be a "visual" blog, i.e., to have more images than words; that's why I keep the intros as short as possible (sometimes, eschewing them altogether). Another thing I like to do is to feature beefcake wrestlers from around the world -- England, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Japan, Singapore, India, Nepal, South Africa, Hungary, Mexico, China, The Netherlands, and so on. I hope I've achieved my objectives. Thanks for following my little blog!
