Giving Thanks

As our friends in the USA celebrate Thanksgiving Day, I'd like to give thanks, too, to all the readers/members/subscribers to Beefcakes of Wrestling and its YouTube channel. Thanks to all the amazing contributors of this blog and to those who've emailed me with feedback and suggestions. Thank you to all the people who maintain the wrestling blogs and websites that I look in on regularly -- you guys are awesome! And most of all, thanks to all the wrestlers who've been featured in my blog; without you, there wouldn't be a Beefcakes of Wrestling.

Persian Beefcake (Part 1)

Here's another great batch of photos from Beefcakes of Wrestling's regular contributor Jim from Chicago featuring "Persian Powerhouse" Milad Akkbar. Jim attended Wrestlerage IX last November 12 at Villa Park, Illinois and shot Milad in a five-on-five tag team match. "Milad's team lost the match when the "Persian Powerhouse" himself was pinned by Hardcore Craig," writes Jim. As usual, Jim's work is awesome! Thanks, Jim and keep 'em coming. Sit Up and Pay Attention

Thanks to the newest batch of subscribers to the Beefcakes of Wrestling channel on YouTube (xandert1, you were the 200th person to subscribe). The latest addition to the channel is a 60 second clip of one of this blog's favorite beefcakes, Tony Nese, cutting a promo for a May 2011 appearance with  NYWC. Not content with just talking directly to the camera, Nese does sit-ups while delivering his spiel. Check it out here. (Thanks to reader Gabe for the original link to this video.)

Brian Cage vs Ryan Taylor

The Beefcakes of Wrestling channel on YouTube now has 199 subscribers (who wants to be the 200th?). Thanks to all of you who regularly check it out. Here's your treat for the day, a match between indie beefcakes Brian Cage and Ryan Taylor for Dungeon Championship Wrestling. The action is less than spectacular (and where are the fans? How many people attended this event? Twenty?), but watch it to see how much fun these two are having in the ring. It's like they decided to just enjoy themselves since hardly anyone showed up to see them wrestle. Watch it here.

Batten Down

You don't see a lot of real twins in pro wrestling, but back in the 1980s, the tag team of Bart and Brad Batten (born Sept. 8, 1958) were somewhat of a fixture in the WWC and NWA. The pair made their debut in 1983 and continued to wrestle till the mid-2000s. Watch one of their matches here.
