Tuesdays With Tony

Tony aka Anthony. Anthony "The Premiere Athlete" Nese. Our good friend and longtime contributor to this blog David got to see Nese up close and in action at an EVOLVE show held last Saturday. Nese was in a five-way elimination match wherein the winner would appear in a WWE Cruiserweight tournament. And guess who won? Nese! This means that WWE scouts could be eyeing Nese as we speak. And who knows? We might see Nese in NXT and even the WWE someday. I'll bet he's excited. Thank you, David, for these amazing pics.

  1. Great news for Tony and his career.

There are so many Nese pics on this blog and I bet if we spread them out according to how much facial hair and how long his hair is, I could pinpoint the exact moment it becomes a turnoff.

  2. Anyone know the i.d. of the wrestler against Nese in the last two pix? Thanks TT

    1. Can it be TJP (T J Perkins)?

    2. It does look like TJ Perkins. Plus, I see a part of the logo of the Philippine flag on his ring gear. Like Batista and Zeema Ion, Perkins is Filipino-American.

    3. Given that Lince Dorado plays a bit part in Bruno's Nese post, I think the i.d. of Perkins is confirmed. He has been around for some time now, and, IMHO, is underrated. I'd welcome more TJP in the future.

In spite of that silly gear, Lince has a "beefcake-worthy" physique.

Question: does anyone remember a match between TJP (or Chris Jones?) vs. Iron Sheik during which the Sheik refused to abandon his clutch on his victim, carrying his deadly grip to the floor at ringside until the EMT's appeared with a gurney and he was forced to release TJP (or Junes, as may be the case)? If so, I wonder what the URL of the video or foto(s) may be. Thanks, TT

  3. Unrelated to Nese, but I thought Bruno'd like to know that the wrestler Josh Shooter (featured on here last year) linked to the blog from his Facebook page, LOL.

    Werk!

    1. I checked it out. Haha. I hope he's flattered I called him a beefcake.

  4. This may be of interest: the other participants in the WWE tournament include quite a few alumni of this blog: Zack Sabre Jr.,
Clement Petout (I think this is Tristan Archer's real name), Fabian Aichner (better known as Adrian Severe), Harv Sihra, Gurv Sihra (the Bollywood Boyz,Tommaso Ciampa, TJ Perkins, Tyson Dux, Lince Dorado, Damien Slater, and Arya Daivari.
There are about 30 names, I edited out the REALLY obscure ones. Anon.

  5. I'm guessing it's his WWE stage name and Tristan Archer is his real name. Also according to the official site, it's Clement "Petiot" though as of now, not many search hits on either name:

    1. Couldn't they have picked a name that's easier to remember...or pronounce?

  7. I have long wondered how a Frenchman (Clement Petoit) got a UK name (Tristan Archer), and now I know. It's not really too hard to pronounce as long as one sends "men" of Clement via the sinuses and remembers that Petoit sounds almost like "patois" = "lingo." I suspect that Eli Jav may have it "ass-backwards," as my Mum used to say. TT

    1. I have noticed that even the Francophone announcers pronounce "Tristan Archer" in the English manner. But this also explains why I couldn't find any correlation between Petout and Archer. Serves me right for cutting and pasting from a Wrestling news site. I only made the connection because someone commented that Archer was going to be in the tournament, and Clement was the only one from France. Anon.

    2. And I screwed up Patiot's spelling, thereby rendering incomprehensible the parallel with patois. Oooops, sorry. TT

  9. P'tee-ō. Surname is a nickname for a person of short stature. Basically "Shorty." Ironic as under Petiot, he's also called "Goliath."
