Heel: The TV Series

Who else is looking forward to the upcoming TV series Heel about "two brothers and rivals - one, a villain or "heel" in the ring, the other a hero or "face" - play out in scripted matches as they war over their late father's wrestling promotion, vying for national attention in small-town Georgia. (Wikipedia)" Heel stars Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Jack Spade, the titular heel of the series. His younger brother Ace is played by Alexander Ludwig (Vikings). This is not Amell's first time in the ring; the actor made a guest appearance on WWE's RAW in 2015. This led to a Summer Slam match between Amell and his tag team partner Neville (formerly known as PAC) against the team of Stardust (Cody Rhodes) and King Barrett (Wade Barrett). I believe the series is currently in production and no airdate has been announced as of yet. A casting call for wrestlers/actors was put out last August 2020 so we can expect to see a few independent wrestlers appearing on the show (CM Punk is confirmed to be doing a guest appearance). Who would you like to see on this show?

  1. Agree with the old article, i.e., he needs to be thicker than he was in "Arrow" to be believable. Would love to see some of the alumni of BoW on there. First person that comes to mind is Sean Legacy.
Since it is partly "behind the scenes," I wish the series would break "kayfabe" and not pretend that the outcomes aren't preordained. There would be plenty of muscle, gore, athleticism, drama, and rivalry if they would just show reality. Anon.

    1. According to their Wikipedia page, the two brothers "play out in scripted matches", so yeah, sounds like they're going to give us an "inside look" on how an independent promotion works.

    2. Well, according to the IMDB Web site, eight episodes are already finished. The full cast is here:

Haven't had a chance to go through the list, but a quick glance doesn't reveal any BoW men. Anon.
