Here's a brief look-back at a couple of tag teams American wrestler Tom "Z-Man" Zenk was part of. Some of you may remember Zenk and Canadian wrestler Rick Martell's Can-Am Connection. The duo was poised to become of the WWE's (WWF back then) most successful tag teams of the 1980s, but after only a year, the partnership dissolved. So what happened? Read about it
here. In the 1990s, Zenk, now signed to Word Championship Wrestling (WCW), WWE's biggest rival then, partnered with Johnny Gunn (aka Tom Brandi, however, their tag team came nowhere near as big as The Can-Am Connection. Read the story about Zenk and Gunn
here.

not to take anything away from anyone else but Tom Zenk was the star. Just look at him.
ReplyDeleteNo arguments here, although I think Brandi was a step up from Martel. Brandi eventually purchased the "Patriot" gimmick from extremely BoW-worthy (hint hint Bruno) Del Wilkes, wrestling in a mask from then on. Anon.
DeleteThose tights swoon
ReplyDeleteI've followed pro wresting for a long time and have never heard the term "bleach our gear". *laugh*
ReplyDeleteZenk also had one of the most formidable packages in the business. I saw him live several times from ringside, and his yellow trunks, in particular, revealed porn-star-sized equipment. Add to that his impressive ring skills and good looks, and you had a real star. Martel was no slouch, either.
ReplyDeleteSexy jobber in bright color trunks
ReplyDeleteTo go with the package, Zenk was also inclined, more than most, to use "sleeper" holds on his opponents. Anon.
