French Lessons

The match I've been waiting to see is finally here! Last week, YouTuber Beaury Mathieu uploaded a match between French wrestlers Tristan Archer and Brian McCarthy. I used to mistake McCarthy for Archer in thumbnail images (if you ask me, there is a bit of a resemblance) so seeing those two go up against each other made me very excited. The good news is there's a lot to like in this video: Archer and McCarthy are good-looking, fit, agile men; Archer's square cuts look like they were painted on  and McCarthy's green trunks are small and tight. The bad news is, the video is very shaky (it looks like it was shot on a cellphone) and the action itself leaves much to be desired. The pace of the match is too fast for my taste and the there are too many kicks, blows, and suplexes going on here. Oh to see those tight, muscled physiques in slow, punishing moves and holds! As of this writing, the video has been viewed 859 times (only?). Let's see if this post drives up those numbers. Click here to view the match.

Ball and Chain

Here's Brian McCarthy, the Belfast-born wrestler who's been wrestling in France for a few years now, in a chain match against Hellmer Lo'Guennec (posted to YouTube on August 29, 2016). The first two photos are from his Facebook account while the screen caps are from the video which you can watch here.

Apron Strings

I think we all know that in a wrestling ring, the apron is the area that "extends between one and two feet beyond the ropes (source: Wikipedia)" What is the apron typically used for? Well, it's where a tag team competitor stands and waits to be tagged while his partner battles their opponent in the ring. In matches like a Battle Royale, the apron is considered a safe zone, meaning a wrestler who is tossed outside the ring but who does not fall off the apron can still participate in the match. Check out the photos below to see some beefcake wrestlers on the apron.
