Another mid-80s-to-1990s wrestler who slipped under my radar back then is Todd Champion. Champion began his in-ring career with National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in 1986, had a brief stint with World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), and then wrestled for various independent promotions in the 1990s. Read more about him here. Watch him in this 1991 WCW match against a young-ish Steve Austin. Champion was also in a WCW tag team called The Patriots with Chip "The Firebreaker" (aka Curtis Thompson); watch one of their matches here.

I do remember him well...I always thought he could be so sexy if he would stop wearing the tights...but I don't think I ever saw him wrestle in anything but the tights.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Always the damn tights’
ReplyDeleteIf you go back to the mid-80s you can find matches in which he wore short trunks. E.g.,

I think one of his "problems" was that he had a big butt, which only seemed to increase in size as he aged. He probably thought he looked better in tights. Anon.
Not to beat a dead horse, but according to the link Bruno provided, Champion wrestled as "Perro Russo" at the end of his career. This seems to be his last match, against Vampiro. He's gone back to short trunks, if it really is he. Anon.
