DDT Shenanigans

Japanese promotion DDT (Dramatic Dream Team) is notorious for its wild, wacky, hilarious, unconventional matches and it's not unusual for several of their wrestlers to lose their trunks in certain matches. Here are some pics from some of their unforgettable events. (If you would like to learn more about DDT Wrestling, read this article by Ian Glennon.

Two-For-One-Thursday: Duggan and Mayfairs

Here is today's two-for-one special on Beefcakes of Wrestling. These two independent wrestlers appear on the roster of UK promotion Hustle Wrestling and while one has been featured here before, the other one is new to this blog. First up is Danny Duggan (not to be confused with the American independent wrestler who has the same name). It's been four years since Duggan was featured here and it's good to see him still in the business. Meanwhile, making his first appearance here is London-based Tate Mayfairs. What do these two have in common? Duggan and Mayfairs have wrestled each other in the past; you can see some of their match pics below. Watch a recently-uploaded music video of Duggan's career highlights here.

Beefcakes of Lucha: Angel de Oro

So far, all the other Beefcakes of Lucha that have been featured on this blog are wrestlers who wear masks. Meet a luchador who doesn't wear a mask in the ring - Angel de Oro. His name translates to Golden Angel or Angel of Gold. Angel, 5'9"/181 lbs. (176 cm/82 kg), hails from Durango, Mexico and works for the promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The 31-year-old second generation luchador (his father is Apolo Chavez) is a former CMLL World Middleweight Champion and CMLL Light Heavyweight Champion. Like many other luchadores in Mexico, he used to wrestle wearing a mask, but after losing a "mask-vs-mask" match* in 2018 against El Cuatrero, he was forced to unmask and be identified. Angel has a brother who is also a luchador who goes by the name Niebla Roja (The Red Fog). (* Watch their infamous match here.)
