Why Prettyboy Faces Are The Toughest Wrestlers
The title of this post is also the title of a video I came across on YouTube today; it was originally uploaded on October 1st, 2018 by Wrestle Shrine. This video essay lists the reasons why prettyboy faces are not just eye candy in the ring, but embattled, resilient, rugged, and fierce competitors. The second half of the video is a tribute to independent American wrestler Nick Stanley who, according to Wrestle Shrine, is the epitome of the rough and tough prettyboy face. Nice write up on Nick Stanley and the Pretty-Boy Faces video created by Wrestle Shrine. I enjoyed that one also and for once I beat you to the punch --> I blogged about this hot video on the Wrestling Arsenal at http://www.wrestlingarsenal.net/wordpress/?p=32882 and I got several comments about it, so I think plenty of my readers liked it. I like how Wrestle Shrine doesn't just show eye candy (which is great) but also digs into the psychology and symbolism in the matches (which makes it even better.)

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a link to any of his matches recently in NXT? There’s a still on his Instagram of Nick in an arm bar while getting a boot pressed on his head that really really has me wanting to see this full match.

Deletelists only one match in NXT, a tag team in which he is called Stanley Watts.
There are four dark matches at OVW TV tapings through April (therefore, vids are unlikely), so I think the NXT appearance was simply as "enhancement talent." But, I believe that OVW is once again being used as a WWE "farm," so there is the possibility that he will progress to NXT. Anon.
On his Instagram he says the matches can be found on the wwe network app, but I’m too cheap to subscribe!

Also, I like the name Stanley watts! Not as good as the jobberish nick Stanley though. :)
