Moonlighting
Independent American wrestlers Kharn Alexander and Danny Duggan may have wrestled each other in a public arena before, but you've probably never seen them in a match like this. Alexander and Duggan agreed to wrestle each other in a private match for Cameron Matthews' video company Wrestler4Hire. Alexander is moonlighting here as KARN while Duggan is using the pseudonym Caleb Brand. The ring is lit rather dramatically, with a strong key light illuminating only the center (the high contrast makes this match look even more erotic). Unlike their more "legit" pro matches, there's a lot of ball busting here with KARN on the receiving end of Duggan/Brand's brutality. ReplyDeleteFor me, at least, "the high contrast [in lighting] makes this match look even more" . . . dark. If I'm paying money to watch a match, I'd prefer to be able to see it all. I've complained to Matthews about this, and he responded sympathetically. But I think he already had a lot of matches in the can from that venue, which I believe is in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree about Matthews' matches, though. A lot of them feature first rate indy wrestlers who seem unafraid to explore some pretty homoerotic overtones in their work.And that's always welcome!
