The Fabulous Ones were a North American tag team consisting of Stan Lane and Steve Keirn that was active between 1982 and 1990. You can read up on them in their Wikipedia bio. (What's the first word that comes to mind after you've seen these photos?)

ReplyDeleteLane was always the "hot one" in every tag team he was in, but I never noticed, at the time, what a handsome man he is. Anon.
Thanks for this blast from the past! The "Fabs" seemed to enjoy teasing us by pushing the limits of acceptable heterosexual behavior, causing the audience to wonder: "are they or aren't they?" They'd display their undeniably sexy bodies (with one arm always resting on the other's shoulder) in costumes that would make the Village People blush: leather pants, zebra-striped bikini briefs, their famous snakeskin trunks.) They understood that, in Tag Team wrestling, the partners should be portrayed as more than mere co-workers or business associates -- and that a big part of what makes pro wrestling fun to watch is the blatant homo-eroticism and sexual ambiguity. I have more beefcake poses of them in my gallery at http://www.wrestlingarsenal.net/members//Arsenal/646Fabulous/gallery.html.
