The first time I came across Billy Jack Strong was in one of those pro wrestling magazines way back in the 1980s. He went by another name then, Sadistic Steve Strong, a huge heel who was powerful and ruthless in the ring. It was only recently that I found out Strong's real name is Steve DiSalvo. This former powerlifter weighed around 300 pounds at the peak of wrestling career; he went by several other names when he wrestled for WCW and WWE. Read more about him here. And check out this video from You Tube where Strong wrestles Tom "Rocky" Strong in 1988 (screencaps below).

Thank goodness for YouTube, eh Mechadude? I had never seen Strong in a match until YouTube came along. Ah, technology, what would we do without you?
ReplyDeleteThis Steve STrong is the same person that appears in the movie Tarzan the Ape Man -starring Bo Derek and Miles O`keefe ?
ReplyDeleteYes he is the same person who played the Ivory King.
DeleteDuring his early days, Sadistic Steve Strong destroyed all opponents and enjoyed it. He devored them and enjoyed pulling them up before the 3 count. He was a showman who enjoyed punishing his opponents. He was the best in the early to mid 80's
ReplyDeleteStephen "Strong" Cepello played the part in Tarzan; not Billy Jack Strong aka Steve Strong.
