Transformers : Dash Wilder

Last week, I did a story on independent wrestler Saul Adams wherein I compared a photo of what he looked like when he was first featured here (i.e., lean, muscular) with photos of what he looks like now (i.e., thick, beefy, bear-like). This got me to thinking about a few other wrestlers who, over the years, have transformed their bodies. Some have gotten leaner, more ripped or defined, while others have bulked up. Thus, the idea of a monthly feature called "Transformers" was born. In it, I'll be posting pics showing the transformation of a wrestler's physique over the years. One such wrestler who's made such a transformation is WWE's Dash Wilder. If you're not familiar with him, this is what he looks like.

With his Revival/The Mechanics tag team partner Scott Dawson.

When he first joined WWE's NXT franchise, Wilder was paired with Scott Dawson in a tag team called The Mechanics. Their beefy builds complemented their blue collar, "real man" personas. Before he was renamed, Wilder was known to independent wrestling fans as Steven Walters. In case you forgot what Wilder/Walters looked like prior to his stint with WWE, here's a refresher.  All these images were posted in this blog a few years ago. What do you think of Wilder's transformation?

  1. Either version of Steven is A-OK here!

  2. I want the old Steven Walters bad, but I guess it's nice to have the bears score a win. Wah

  3. Leaner is better, both aesthetically and health wise.

    1. Disagree. Some guys are at a healthier weight when they are a bit bigger. Different bodies and different frames. And aesthetics are subjective, so i like the bear version.
