A Very Brady Wednesday

I was going to include Brady Malibu in last week's "New Faces" posts, but he looked familiar to me. I scrolled down this blog's Labels column to look for his name. Nope. No Brady Malibu. But hold on, there's a Brady Roberts. Turns out Brady Malibu is Brady Roberts. Brady isn't just a professional wrestler, he's also a personal trainer and an actor (click here to see his IMDB page). According to Cagematch.net, Brady is 29 years old, weighs 176 pounds, and is 5'9" tall. Some of you may think he has a rather average build, but not all wrestlers have to be over 6 feet, 300 pounds. Cagematch also says he's been wrestling for 13 years now, which means he was only 16 when he first started.  If you want to see more of him, subscribe to his YouTube Channel. You'll see his pro wrestling demo reel wherein he says (with tongue in cheek) "my fans are mostly women and gay men."

  1. Handsome boy! Hot in a variety of hair lengths and scruffiness. Where's that clip?

    1. I revised my original write-up. The clip is in Brady Roberts' YouTube channel. Look for Brady's Pro Wrestling Demo Reel.

  2. I just found out Sexy Kev, who is definitely beefcake material, is 5'8" and 154 lbs. So Sexy Kev is shorter by an inch and 20 lbs. lighter. I think it goes to show that height and weight can be deceiving!

  3. Loved seeing him vs. the since-MIA Scotty Putty.

    1. Thanks for the link JM. I'd forgotten Scotty Putty and how hot he was.

    2. There were a couple of vids of Putty against "Johnny Handsome," a much-larger bodybuilder.
I believe Putty (Scott Putnam) decided to concentrate on bodybuilding. I think I remember reading (a blog of his?) that he had some sort of odd nutritional deficiency or other health issue that made his diet/life fairly difficult.

    3. How interesting. I wonder where that post or article is. I'm always curious when wrestlers retire, especially because of nutrition/health/fitness-related reasons

    4. I see the Putty story got fleshed out in the next newer comments section, but yes, I also am curious about the way and the why some wrestlers "disappear." Usually it is when they marry or have children, and simply need to have steady jobs. Anon.

  4. "With tongue in cheek?" Pullleeeze, Bruno, where else would it be? I can see Brady's point, though I am not really a fan of "cute."

As to pro wrestlers' stature, I think that close examination of stats, assuming self-reporting can be trusted, would yield that overall wrestlers are not as tall as they may often seem to be.

More unexpected to me has been how spindly are the arms of many, many indy ringmen. Often it leaves me befuddled to see how they grapple and lift and apply holds with ease (or stay trapped in them) when they have biceps, triceps, and lats virtually invisible to the fan's naked eye.

Anyhow, I enjoyed the Brady photo spread, and I thank you for your considerate and hard work. TT

    1. I know what you mean, TT. I'm reminded of the late, great Rowdy Roddy Piper who, at the height of his popularity in the 1980s, was good-looking but didn't quite have the muscularity, bulk or definition that other wrestlers had. In the ring, however, he was charismatic and a great actor. Perhaps that's the appeal of Brady Malibu. (Funny how I brought up Roddy Piper and there he is in that picture above with Brady. Piper was a staunch supporter of Brady's career.)

  5. Forgot to say: I am also turned OFF by bandanas around the neck, no matter how flimsy they may be. They a caricature of a gay man, just as black make-up on Kingfish must have been to African Americans. I have meetings with upwards of fifty gay males every week, and I have yet to see one man wear cloth about the neck, ties with suits excepted. -- No, I take it back. One man, aged 33 going on 7 or 8 who has multiple ailments catalogued in the DSM-5, God bless him. A bandana is the least of his troubles. (Dalton Castle gives me indigestion, too.)

  6. I just watched the demo reel and missed where he says his fans are gay men and women. I do not want to see it again. Can someone tell me what timepoint he says it?

TT, I appreciate those views. I just noticed in the Scotty Putty match JM linked that the crowd is jeering f----- so I guess he is playing that up. I guess I don't like how it comes off in this context, but I think it can work

    1. He says "my fans are mostly women and gay men" in the 0:42 mark (while he gets undressed in the locker room). Here's the link again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPs9UP08GgI
