Double Post : Pick On Someone Your Own Size / Moonlighting

Independent wrestler Bu Ku Dao may be one of the shortest wrestlers around (my guess is he's around 5 feet 4 inches tall), but that hasn't stopped him from stepping in the ring to face much bigger opponents. Here he goes up and loses to former WWE Superstar Chris Masters.

Promoters love to pit him against much bigger and taller opponents. Are you a fan of these David-vs-Goliath type matches?
Meanwhile, another independent wrestler, Alexander Hamilton Chamberlain (formerly Aleksander Checkhov), is busy picking up some extra cash by appearing in videos for companies like BG East and such. Moonlighting as Lane Hartley, his most recently released video comes from Cameron Matthews' website. Hamilton/Hartley's opponent here is Andres Bonito, "a local pro who has been brought in by the coach to keep Lane well-seasoned." You can check it out and buy the video here.

Also featured on Cameron's site, this match between Brian Cage and Danny Duggan.

  1. I love Masters and Hartley.

I usually don't care much for big-vs.-little unless little is very special and he wins. I like the underdog in those type of matches.

  2. I love David v Goliath matches but ONLY if Goliath kicks David's ass. Based on comments on this blog and other wrestling sites I seem to be in the minority on this on. Most seem to like it the other way around the appeal of which escapes me. Speaking of Goliath: I bought the Brian Cage video below and it was a big disappointment. There wasn't a single power move in the entire video. There were no bearhugs no backbreakers no body slams no gorilla presses etc. I expected better from Cameron Matthews. So far I have seen 2 Brian Cage videos and they both sucked. It's a shame how the internet wrestling industry is mishandling Brian Cage.

  3. Yes. I'm a 'BIG' fan of those 'David vs. Goliath' matches. I always have a soft spot for the smaller wrestler. (Well, it's more of a 'HARD' spot, actually!) :)

  6. That's because I misspelled his name. It should have been Bu Ku Dao (not Dau). Here are a few links:

  8. It's strange, OSR, my experience is the complete opposite. These days heels are often more popular with fans than heroes (sad, IMO) and in these matches 'Goliath' is usually a heel. When you add that 'Goliath' often squashes 'David' and squashes are also very popular, well, it means there's very little support for 'David'. However, my advocacy for 'Davids' isn't unqualified. I did say it takes a special smaller man to make their 'slingshot' credible.

  9. 1. Chris Masters still looks mighty fine.
    2. Love big guys beating the crap out of smaller guys
    3. Alex Chamberlain wrestles for BGE as Lane Hartley and I love the way he just destroys his opponents.
