Brass Body

"The Man With The Iron Fists" opens on November 2 in the USA and I can't wait for it to be shown here in The Philippines. One of the stars of this martial arts film is David Bautista, but you know him better as former WWE star Batista (Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, and The Wu-Tang Clan's RZA are also in it).

What's the movie about? Here's what The Internet Movie Database website has to say: "On the hunt for a fabled treasure of gold, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China, where a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers." In it, Bautista/Batista plays a character called Brass Body (watch the trailer here and you'll see why he's called that.)

Here's something I didn't know about David Bautista. According to his Wikipedia entry, In August 2012, Bautista signed a contract with Classic Entertainment & Sports to fight in mixed martial arts. He won his MMA debut on October 6, 2012, defeating Vince Lucero via TKO in the first round.

So Batista is now using his real name, David Bautista. If you're wondering where his name comes from, chacha.com says: "Batista was born the son of David Michael Bautista, who is Filipino and Donna Raye Bautista, who is Greek. His parents separated (and eventually divorced). His paternal grandparents were also from the Philippines.

  1. I stood behind Batista in line at O'Hare airport one time. He was so huge and gorgeous. Definitely glad to see him doing stuff.

  2. I read that Dave gave the winnings to charity, cancer research I think, so THAT was definitely an awesome, classy move. (I'm trying to get used to not thinking of him as "Batista" anymore since he isn't going by that, but it's hard!)

  4. I do miss seeing Batista in the ring, I was hoping Mason Ryan would take over from where Batista left off ...but not surprising WWE have mucked that up!
Looking forward to seeing this film though, looks great from the pics.
