Anthony Nese Goes To WWE

If you've been following Anthony Nese on Twitter or Instagram, then you'd know that on July 27th, he competed in WWE's Cruiserweight Classic Tournament. Yes, WWE have given several cruiserweight wrestlers from around the globe a chance to shine in their very own tournament. Many of these cruiserweights have been featured here on Beefcakes of Wrestling -  Noam Dar, Kota Ibushi, Tyson Dux, Brian Kendrick, Drew Gulak, Zack Sabre, Jr., Jack Gallagher, Tristan Archer, Gurv Sihra, Ariya Daivari, T.J. Perkins (to give it more of an international flavor, WWE is trying to make it look like some of these guys are originally from other countries, but saying T.J. Perkins is  from the Philippines is like saying Batista is from the Philippines; they're Americans even though they have one parent who's from the Philippines). Anyway, 198-pound Nese won his match against 147-pound Anthony Bennett so he moves on to the next round. Congratulations on making it to WWE, Nese!

Nese recently made the cover of Long Island Life magazine.

  1. That man bun and bushy beard make me sad. For some reason I thought he trimmed his beard for the WWE, but I guess the trimming was before or after these pics.

  2. The bushy beard look is hopefully not going to be around too much longer. It ruined Matt Cross for me, among others.

  3. Totally agree. Matt Cross is the perfect example of how a beard turns a man of attraction 10 to 0. At least for me.

  4. I don't mind the beard, but the man bun has to go. Dude, you're not Toshiro Mifune.

  5. Make it unanimous. What on earth would he want an Amish beard and man bun for? Just so he can look like six or seven other WWE-wannabe wrestlers? Not the way to stand out of the crowd. Anon.

  6. By definition, a wrestler loses his power of attraction by joining the WWE. But I guess that his banker has another point of view.

  7. I have no explanation as to why he makes these choices, but they do seem to indicate he is in fact straight sadly.

  8. Not to sound like I’m “piling on” … but … the “man bun” and the “bushy beard” has had its 15 minutes in the spotlight and the sooner this trend wanes, the better …

  9. In general I am very, very wary of anything WWE gets involved with. Therefore I ask myself the following question--is this a WWE attempt to capture and monopolize a subset of pro wrestlers whom we have all come to like, forcing them into servitude, into a mold which we abhor and deplore? If my fear is well-grounded, a man bun and, to me, a distastefully groomed beard on one man is just the tip of the iceberg. The whole damned ship may well founder and then--and then sink. Money is the root of this evil, I, too, think.

  10. Very excited for Anthony. he performed so well in winning his first round match. I really hope he goes on to win the whole thing. WWE have already signed a few of the competitors. Raw is adding a Cruiserweight Division.
I know this is a little matter but I think he looks much better when his beard is trimmed short. If he was a real heel the bushy beard might be OK but at the moment I don't think it suits him. I wish him all the best.

    1. I wish him the best too. Potentially, he will be famous and financially comfortable if things work out.
But I agree with TT regarding the WWE. Unfortunately the path to fame and fortune in pro wrestling lies through them. Anon.
