Is This Who I Think It Is?

A sharp-eyed blog reader brought my attention to a brand new Thunder's Arena video titled "Finn McCool vs Bart" and said about Bart, "Is this who I think it is?" As per the Thunder's Arena website, this is Bart's debut with the company. He's described as "an upcoming indie wrestler who's making a name for himself" and who's "come to Thunder's Arena to better his skill and take on the best of the best." Are Bart and Adrian Matthews, an indie wrestler who's been featured on this blog before, one and the same person? Here are images from the page for that video followed by a few pics of Matthews circa 2016. What do you think? (Watch Matthews in this match against Cody Devine.)

I have nothing against indie wrestlers making some extra cash by appearing in these videos. Several other more established wrestlers have been doing it for years (Brian Cage, Chris Dickinson, Alexander Kharn, to name a few). In fact, I wish more indie wrestlers would appear in videos for companies like BG East and Wrestler4Hire. Do you think "legit" wrestlers lose their credibility if they appear in said videos? Sound off in the Comments section below.

  1. Wrestling doesn't pay a lot. But these videos do. And honestly, their presence ups the quality of these companies' matches. It's a win-win.

  2. Agreed, the quality of the vids is so improved by the presence of real pro wrestlers. So many have done it and it doesn't seem to have hurt them.
BTW, after your Brady Pierce post I found that he is doing the same, under the name "Bo Brady." Anon.

  3. The gay wrestling video market is huge and profitable. I mean, who are we kidding?

  6. I agree with those who express support for and appreciation of "legit. indy" wrestlers who cross over and make videos of a more erotic bent. Really, though, I rather think that 99.99% of indy videos are meant to be erotically appealing to begin with. Witness, by way of example, the many matches in which so beautiful and well-muscled man as Paul Roma got tortured, While his case may be extreme, I believe that it serves to demonstrate the erotic in ordinary indy wrestling. The most prevalent counterexamples may be (a) matches with chairs, ladders, or cages or a surplus of high flying antics, or out-of-ring brutality.

Whatever, I hope that we continue to be offered lots of choices so that no one will be left out of the fun of watching.

One thing I meant so say above is that I find less erotically appealing indy matches in which one, both, or more than 2 wrestlers were obviously drop-outs from training "classes." And I want also to say that I find most of the staged erotic videos and .jpg fotos to be "wooden," for lack of a better word.

  7. I find the cage / falls count anywhere to be the most erotic indy matches along with matches with long held holds and sweaty bodies.
